SBB will link Zurich to Amsterdam
SBB will link Zurich to Amsterdam starting December 12, 2021. for the first time after 2016.
An improvement in international traffic will rise with this line connecting two cities. Customers of Swisscom will soon be are to surf on mainline trains in Switzerland.
SBB’s new timetable will come into force on December 12 2021, bringing improvements and innovations in regional, mainline, and international traffic.
Traffic on regional and mainlines are on the rise, presenting a healthy trend. With travel demand being on the rise, SBB said it is convinced that climate-friendly, traffic-free travel will become even more important in the future, even though train occupancy remains below 2019.
Zurich-Amsterdam connection
By December 12 2021, SBB will offer a daily Nightjet service with sleeping cars from Zurich to Amsterdam via Basel SBB and Cologne in cooperation with ÖBB. After departing Zurich at 9:59 pm and Basel at 11:13 pm, this train will arrive in Amsterdam at 9:01 am. In the opposite direction, the train leaves Amsterdam at 8:30 pm and arrives at Basel SBB at 6:20 am and at Zürich at 8:05 am.
Zurich – Munich Connection
EuroCity trains will reduce the travel time between Zurich and Munich by half an hour if operating permits can be obtained in time. Instead of the current 4 hours and 30 minutes travel time, reduction to 3 and 30 minutes for three out of the six bonds expected. Thus, as of spring 2022, all EC trains will run from Zurich to Munich in around 3 hours 30 minutes.
Basel – Milan Central connection
Last but not least, one additional EuroCity per direction runs daily on the Basel CFF – Berne – Brig – Milan Central line. A departure from Basel SBB is scheduled for 10:28 am, while a departure route from Milan Centrale is planned at 3:20 pm.
FreeSurf also with Swisscom onboard
Surfing on SBB and SOB mainline trains has been free for customers of digitec connect, Quickline, Salt and Sunrise since December 2020. In addition, Swisscom users can access free internet on trains as soon as the timetable changes.
