New Google tools for hotels to reconnect with travellers
New Google tools for hotels to reconnect with travellers’ – announcement. As part of a recent expansion of hotels, the US search engine Google offers links to book accessible hotels on its result pages and in Google Maps.
Google has shown free booking links for hotels worldwide since spring 2021. However, the metasearch engine has gone one step further. A new update aims to help Google travel partners expand their reach and provide consumers with more options, says Julie Farago, Google Engineering Director for Travel.
In concrete terms, the hotel booking links appear on both Google’s search result page and Google Maps. After clicking on these links, the user redirects to the hotel’s website to complete the booking.

Additionally, Google creates new data visualizations to analyze the traffic generated by free booking links. For example, a new report in the “Hotel Center” shows how many people have clicked on hotel links. Moreover, impressions and booking values will appear in reporting within a few weeks. Also, hotels will be able to easily share availability and prices. For accessible booking links to work, accommodation providers with verified Google business profiles can accept online bookings and manually enter their rates.
Local Posts
Also introduced was the “Local Posts” feature. It can be used by hotels, for informing customers about changes to COVID measures, sharing descriptions of special features that make their hotel unique or uploading images and videos.
Because the search results and the map display are two of the most popular Google services, the new features will give the hotels more visibility.
