Early Holiday Flair – Christmas Markets are arriving very soon!
In some areas in Switzerland, Christmas markets are already setting up their stalls despite the leaves still on the trees.
November is the beginning of the holiday season in Switzerland, with some Christmas markets opening.
Although it is still autumn in Switzerland, there are hints of Christmas in many places.
The holiday season is just around the corner, and towns of all sizes are getting ready to celebrate. We nearly forgot that markets were closed in 2020 and that most places required Covid certificates in 2021. So, we are eager to enjoy the holiday season this year early.
It is expected that most Swiss markets will open at the beginning of December to overlap with the start of Advent on December 1st, but others will open this week and next week.
November is the perfect time to start getting ready for Christmas.
Lausanne – November 17th – December 31st, 2022
‘Bô Noël’. There will be small Christmas markets in various locations throughout the Vaud capital starting on Thursday, November 17th.
Additionally, all the sites will offer various activities for the young and old, including shopping, eating, drinking, and entertainment.
Geneve – November 18th – December 23rd, 2022
Jardin Anglais. The traditional market will open on November 18th in the middle of an urban park by a lake.
You’ll be able to buy holiday decorations and trinkets at the artisan market, along with traditional edibles like mulled wine and raclette.
Geneve – November 24th – December 28th, 2022
Noël du Mont-Blanc, Geneva’s second Christmas market, on rue du Mont-Blanc, will open on November 24.
As in previous years, it will feature a wide variety of artisanal products and local delicacies.
Montreux (Vaud) 18th November – 24rd December, 2022
An iconic Christmas fair in the country, the “Montreux Noel” market is situated along Lake Geneva’s shore.
The famous Chillon Castle, just a snowball away from the city centre, offers spectacular views of Santa Claus and Father Christmas flying down the slide.
Basel November 24th – December 23rd, 2022
Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz – One of Switzerland’s largest and most picturesque Christmas markets, Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz open November 24th.
You can find An array of handcrafted ornaments and regional treats among the 200 booths at this event.
Zurich, 24th November – 23rd December, 2022
Five Christmas fairs will start on November 24th in Switzerland’s largest city, including Sechseläutenplatz, Old Town, Bahnhof, Münsterhof, and Werdmühleplatz.
Gifts, decorations, food, and drinks are available at these events, along with a singing Christmas tree and one decorated with 7,000 crystals. Be sure to catch all of them; they all have different charms and beauty.
