The Hilton Hotel & Resorts study examines traveller trends during 2023 and evaluates the experiences users expect from hotels, whether travelling for business or attending events.
“Today, whether you are a transient business traveller or an event planner, people are closely watching their schedules as well as their destinations to maximize the time they have to build and strengthen relationships while travelling or attending events,” Gerilyn Horan says, Vice President, Group Sales and Account Strategy.
In 2023, travellers will follow the following trends.
Study participants indicated that when travelling, they look for hotels with:
- A conscious approach to eating
- Experiencing the culture of the locals
- Relaxation and disconnection
In addition, 35% of travellers seek a city that can help them improve their mental health while they are there. Meanwhile, 49% of travellers said they were travelling to disconnect from work.
Local Food
According to global respondents, 32% prioritize consuming locally sourced foods and beverages.
Most of those surveyed, 53%, indicated that finding reliable and friendly spaces will be necessary for their following destinations.
The study also found that travellers increasingly seek out all-inclusive hotels or meals and experiences in nearby communities that restore their sense of balance and relieve stress through physical activity and relaxation.
